Privacy Policy

The Short Version

We built Meal Club to help you plan meals, not to collect your data. We only collect what's necessary to make the app work: your email for login and the recipes and meal plans you create. We use cookies for analytics only if you say yes. Your data stays in the EU, we don't sell it, and you can delete everything anytime. That's it.

What We're About

Hi! I'm Igor, and I created Meal Club because I needed a better way to plan meals and manage my kitchen. This isn't a big tech company trying to harvest your data—it's just a useful tool that respects your privacy.

Here's exactly what happens with your information when you use Meal Club.

Your Account & Content

When you sign up, we only ask for your email. That's it. No name, no phone number, no birthday. Just your email so you can log in.

Everything else you add is your content:

  • Recipes you create or save
  • Your meal plans
  • Shopping lists
  • Pantry items (including expiration dates)
  • Dietary preferences (if you choose to set them)

This is your data. It's stored securely on servers in EU, and it's there so you can access it from any device.

Analytics & Cookies

We use PostHog for analytics, but here's the thing: it's completely optional.

When you first visit, you'll see a cookie banner. If you choose "Necessary Only," we won't track anything beyond what's needed to keep you logged in. If you allow analytics, we'll see things like:

  • Which features you use (so we know what to improve)
  • How often you visit
  • What device/browser you're using

We specifically disabled IP address collection because we don't need to know where you're cooking from. And we never do creepy stuff like session recordings.

We also use Sentry for error tracking (only with your consent). This helps us catch and fix bugs before they ruin your meal planning.

Who Else Sees Your Data?

Short answer: Nobody, unless required by law.

Longer answer: Your data is processed by:

  • AWS (Amazon Web Services): They host our servers in Frankfurt. They're like our digital landlord—they provide the space, but they don't snoop around.
  • PostHog: Only if you consent to analytics. They're also EU-based and GDPR compliant.
  • Sentry: Only if you consent to analytics. We use Sentry for error tracking to help us fix bugs and improve the app. They're also GDPR compliant.

We don't sell your data. We don't share it with advertisers. We don't use it to train AI models. Your recipes are yours.

Your Rights

You're in control. Here's what you can do:

  • See your data: It's all visible in the app, but email us if you want a full export
  • Fix mistakes: Edit anything directly in the app
  • Delete everything: There's a "Delete Account" button in settings. One click, and it's all gone—no questions asked
  • Change your mind about cookies: Clear your browser data and you'll see the consent banner again

Just email us at privacy@mealclub.app for any privacy-related requests.

Kids & Meal Club

Meal Club is for adults (16+). If you're younger than that, you'll need to wait a bit or get your parents to manage the meal planning.

Changes to This Policy

If we need to update this policy (like if we add a cool new feature), we'll email you with plenty of notice. No sneaky changes.
